We woke next to the river this morning in our little cabin, ate yogurt and fruit at a picnic table before hitting the pool. Lily had a short nap before we got on the trail for a leisurely ride back to West Newton where Jim's parents picked us up around 4:30. Lily did her first 110 mile tour! Go Lily!!

Doing a 180
So on our third day we departed Confluence and headed back the way we came. We stopped again in Ohiopyle for lunch and a dip in the Youghegheny. On the trail there we ran into the wife and children of one of jim's Walsh cousins who we last saw in Florida.
We had dinner at the Mexican restaurant in Connelsville and them biked a few more miles to River's Edge campground where we stayed in a cabin. Lily loved cooling off in the pool, swinging on the playground and watching the geese in the Yough. Lily had her first 30 mile day. She continues to be amazing & love it.

Hugging the Youghiogheny
Such a beautiful trail, through the woods hugging the Youghioghrny River with remenents of the toil of coal, canals & railroads.
We departed Connelsville about noon, had lunch & swam in the river in Ohiopile & then peddled onto confluence for the night. A 27 mile day.

Great first day
Lily was amazing! She loves riding in the trailer. We hit the trail in west newton after having lunch with Jim's parents. Within about 15 minutes lily was asleep. We placed some bags with clothing around her to keep her from bobbing around.
The trail is beautiful, a wonderful surface and flat- with a small grade incline- which works well as our rental bikes are cruisers with no gears. I feel transported back to my childhood with brakes that I put into action by peddling backwards.
We road 25 miles to Connellsville whee we had dinner at valley dairy restaurant, stayed at the Connellsville B&B where we watched a great documentary After Innocence on net flicks and settled into a good night's sleep.

On the trail again with Lily
We are just starting a 4 day tour in PA. Given that Lily's with us for her second tour, we are doing a part of a beautiful rails to trails we did 3 years ago- the Allegheny Passage. Jim's folks are dropping us off in a few minutes in West Newton where we will head south. How far we get will depend upon how Ms. Lily does. Should be fun!
